In this current day and age, we realize that the computer is such a vital tool in getting work done faster and efficiently. In a bit to make life easier we tend to overload our systems with a lot of stuffs some of which are not needful and some of which are useful but are in unauthorized excess usage. Below are some useful tips on how to make our systems more efficient and optimized.

Always uninstall programmes or applications that are mostly never used

Take a queue of all the programmes and applications on your system then you will notice those programmes that you have never bothered to open and never cared to use. This programmes tend to eat up vital space on your system. All you need do is to uninstall them.  To uninstall these programmes do the following:

Go to Control Panel – Click on Programmes and Softwares – select the programme you intend to remove- click on Uninstall and wait till the programme uninstalls and Refresh or Re-start your system

Do not save documents or files you do not need on your desktop

Usually we tend to save most of files on our desktop. Depending on the type of file, it tends to occupy vital space. To avoid this we can save these files directly into the hard drive or a partitioned portion of the hard drive or an external hard drive.

Always do a weekly system maintenance

Every good system requires a routine maintenance check. To achieve this you engage the use of system maintenance tools already embedded in the system. These tools include Disk Clean-up and Disk Defragmentation.

To access these tools go to the windows search pane and type Disk Clean up and click on the icon to open it. After the space to clean up has been calculated, check all the file boxes to ensure a thorough clean up and click Clean up system Files, wait for the process to end.

To access Disk defragmentation, go to the windows search pane and type Defragment, click on the icon- select the dick you want to defragment then click Optimize and wait for the process to end

Always Do weekly system scan for virus

At times your system might be slow due to the viruses in it. To ensure that your system is virus free, make sure you have installed a good antivirus software on your system. Most importantly antivirus software with Internet security. To scan your system, launch the antivirus software whose icon will likely be on your desktop, select the Scan tab and select the drive to scan and wait for the process to end. If there are viruses, it will prompt you on the next step either to clean or move to vault. Select the virus and click Clean

Never leave your Windows Update on automatic

When you leave your systems update to automatic it tends to drag the system. Simply put the update on a mode where you dictate when you to download and install updates. To achieve this go to Control panel – Click on Windows Update – click on Change setting on the left hand side tab – click the dropdown list and choose check for updates but let me choose when to download and install them click Ok
